Grinding and Polishing Equipment

Grinding and Polishing Equipment

Grinding and polishing equipment for materialography – an overview

In order to find the appropriate grinding and polishing machines for use in materialographic applications, the sample throughput has to be taken into consideration. Manual grinding and polishing machines are particularly suited for a smaller sample throughput. In case larger sample amounts have to be processed on a regular basis, automatic grinding and polishing machines are preferable. They allow grinding and polishing of several samples simultaneously and with little time and effort. Grinding and polishing machines on the market sometimes differ considerably in size, design and machine operation. Depending on the model, the machine's performance range sometimes varies considerably. In addition to the acquisition costs, the costs for the consumables have to be taken into account. Here again, considerable differences exist between the different manufacturers of grinding and polishing machines. Having analyzed the expected sample throughput and the sample's material condition, an in-depth comparison of the different grinding and polishing machines on the market is therefore indispensable.

SCAN-DIA Grinding and Polishing Equipment

The company SCAN-DIA has long tradition in the development of grinding and polishing equipment. The current range of machines is the result of many years of development work and constant improvement of our grinding and polishing equipment. Two series are available: SCANDIMATIC Series 33 and SCANDIMATIC Series 37. Both series comprise machines for manual as well as for automatic polishing. They differ in design and in the size of the available support discs. The machine capacity varies from 1 to 5 samples. The SCAN-DIA Grinding and Polishing Machine Series feature different model variants, so that individual requirements can be met with custom-fit solutions. A small sample volume can be processed as economically as regularly upcoming larger amounts of samples and the wide variety of available consumables allows an even more diversified use for our grinding and polishing machines. In cases where no satisfying solution can be found for particular laboratory situations using the standard range of SCAN-DIA Machines, the company offers customized solutions.
